So , Let's Discuss about Container Today. As we know - " A large box in which commodities to be shipped .A standard container can be lifted ,stacked and moved from one place to another. and one mode to another mode.

Type of container-
There are many diffrent type of containers categorised for Dry cargo for specific purpose. Two Most used are 20 Ft Container & 40 Ft Container.
20 Ft Container - also known as one TEU (Twenty foot equivalent )- 20 Foot * 8 Foot * 8 Foot (Length* width *Height) Tare weight - 2300 KG, Carrying Capacity - 25000 KG,
40 Ft Container - Also known as FEU (Forty foot equivalent) - 40 Foot *8 Foot *8.6 (Length *width*Height) Tare weight - 3750 KG , Carrying Capacity - 27600 KG
High Cube Containers - These are in 40-Foot & 45 Foot sizes are twice as long as nearly 1 Foot. it is taller than general purpose container. They are ideal for light, voluminous or bulky cargo. These extra volume containers are made from steel or aluminium. For pallet using they are also in diffrent variation like - Pallet wide High Cube.
Flat rack Containers - Flat rack containers are designed for heavy load and cargo that need to loaded from side or Top For Example - Pipe ,Machinery, Some Flat rack containers may have corner post or walls that may not be collapsible. These containers are usually equipped with rings on the inside for securing in transit cargo with straps. Flat rack containers are made of steel and come in 20 Foot and 40 Foot size.
Open Top Containers - In Open top containers the walls are made of steel and floor is generally wood. The roof consist of removable bows and removable tarpaulin for loading flexibility and the door often swivels out to give Flexibility to loading and discharging operations. The Open top containers are generally oversized cargo such as timber and scrap material which is loaded from top. This type of container is not appropriate for extra high cargo. Open top Containers come in 20 and 40 Foot length.
Tank Container - Tank Containers which are designed for liquid cargo , Come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. A typical oil tanker has length of 42.5 feet a width of 8.2 feet and depth of 12 Feet. Tankers thickness are are around 0.2 Inches. Tankers filled with petroleum products are double walled for environmental protection in case of an accident.
Other tank dimension may depend on cargo.
Temperature controlled Containers - Temperature controlled containers also known as "Reefers" which are used to transport goods requiring cooling air ,such as fruit ,dairy products, meats, Pharma products . Reefers are fitted with refrigerators units that are connected to the container's Electrical power supply. Air Circulates around through the load and return to refrigeration unit. These container also in 20 Ft and 40 Ft lengths.
